Can't send/recieve mail
Hi,
I am using Windows Server 2008 R2 and I have installed Exchange on it but when I try to send mail to one of the users I get an error which is...
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 530 530 5.7.1 Client was
not authenticated (state 12).
Now when I try to send from one of the users I get this message...
#550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired in unreachable destination queue.
Reason: A matching connector cannot be found to route the external recipient ##
I was told this just a problem with my router and that I need to direct port 25 to the server, but I haven't been able to try that as of yet because I do not know the password to the router (I'm new to the company).

Hi
Have you added the email domain name as an accepted domain on then Exchange server and where do the MX records for your domain point to?
As for sending you will need port 25 to be open on your router and your ISP must allow you to send on port 25 through their network. Many ISPs block this post to prevent spamming.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply, I have no opened port 25 on the router and I still get the error message.
Also I am able to send mail internally.
And sorry (I won't bore you with why I am stuck using an application I know nothing about) I don't know how to add the e-mail domain as an accepted domain and the MX record should point to the domain we're using, or should it pointing to a subdomain like
mail.domain.com.
Sorry I don't know much.
Thanks, Ashley

Hi Ashley
This document should help with adding an accepted domain:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124911.aspx
Is this Exchange server replacing another one or a different email system?

That looks like a problem on the Receive Connector you're using to
accept SMTP from the Internet.
Open the EMC, look in the Server Configuration, Hub Transport
container, and select the server. Select the Default receive connector
(I assume, I don't know if you have just one or several), and examine
its properties. Click the tab "Permission Groups" and check the
"Anonymous users" box.

Did you create a Send Connector?

I don't think so -- at least not yet.

Well, you'd better find out who knows the password if you're going to
be the one that manages the router!

If you want to send or receive mail to/from internet, you should do some settings after you have installed your brand new exchange.
I guess that you not have the edge server. So you can configure your HUB server to do that. Below is the basic setting.
Configure Internet Mail Flow Directly Through a Hub Transport Server:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb738138.aspx
hope can help you

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all the help, I can now send e-mails from the Server!
It was the send connector that was the problem, I can't recieve e-mails I am guessing that means it is a problem with the recieve connector?
It is still the same error message:

Do you allow anonymous SMTP connections on the Receive Connector? See
my previous answer.
Not knowing your domain name makes it impossible for anyone to do any
investigation.
