Can I copy from one hard drive to another, the information store for exchange 2000 on an sbs2000 server
Hello. My NTBackup of the information store failed. I was able to backup my data and restore it to a hard drive that is not a boot drive. I installed a boot drive with SBS2000 on it. The drive has exchange 2000 and an old database on it from when I first imaged it. Can I copy my current exchange files over to the new boot drive? Since my .bkf file is corrupt, I only have a copy on another hard drive. Is there a way to drag and drop exchange from one drive to another. Long story short, my main boot drive had an 0x0000007b error. But I could still backup the data and get to it by using a bootable CD. I removed this drive and inserted another drive which is now the new boot drive. The data from the 0x0000007b drive is still there, exchange and all. I only need the public folders that were on the C drive that had the 0x0000007b error. And yes, with Dell support, could not solve the 0x0000007b error at all. Even though the drive did not report any damage via diags or chkdsk. Fixboot, fixmbr, reinstalling system state, etc. did not work. How can I get my exchange2000 database from the old drive (now a D drive) to my new C drive. Thanks, Wattsfan

Do you have the log and system (checkpoint) files too? In any case, you'll need to update the settings so Exchange looks to the new location for the files. This should help you: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/822676/en-us?p=1 -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .
