Can I get a Virus using the Outlook Web Access reading pane?
We have Exchange 2007. Most of us use Outlook Web Access. Is it true that email messages can be safely viewed in the Reading Pane because malicious scripts or attachments are not opened? Or can we still get a virus using the reading pane?

If there is a virus embedded in the actual message of the email then viewing through the preview pane can trigger that virus to deploy. So no it will not lower your chances cause it is still opening the email.DJ Grijalva | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | www.persistentcerebro.com

As the other replies state, sure, if it's embedded in the message body itself, there's a chance. I'd hope you are using good antivirus software or services to scan all mail, and have file-level AV installed on all your workstations and servers anyway.Lanwench ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate.
