Can I restore Ecxhange server 2007 backup to a different machine...
Hi,I have a backup file created using ntbackup using one of our HP DL140 G3 server. We would like to know whether we can restore the backup to different machine other than the one in which we have taken the backup.Thanks in Advance.....

yes, you can , provided the machine name, exchange org name, database name etc are same as in the old machine. Raj

Hi,If you are restoring from Windows NT specify the Exchange server anme to which you are trying to restoreIf you are trying restore from Symantec specify the correct Server name so that it will restore properlythanks

I am trying to restore to windows server 2008 and Exchange server 2007 and backup is done frm Windows server 2003 and exchange server 2007...

I am trying to restore to windows server 2008 and Exchange server 2007 and backup is done frm Windows server 2003 and exchange server 2007... You will not be able to restore it.Reason 1:The back-up was taken from a windows server 2003 + exchange server 2007 and you are trying to restore to Windows server 2008 + exchange server 2007.The file system is different.- Nagesh
