Can Outlook client be installed on Exchange 2007 server?
This article applies to Exchange 2003: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266418. My question is: can Outlook be installed on an Exchange 2007 server? Is this supported by Microsoft?

Yes, they can now. See Dave Goldman's blog here (Dave works for Microsoft)http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2007/02/27/installing-outlook-2007-on-an-exchange-2007-server.aspxNeil Hobson, Exchange MVP

Yes, you can safely install Outlook 2007 on the same machine as Exchange 2007. Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 no longer ships with the client side binaries that made this approach a bit adventurous with previous versions.Supported by Microsoft? Not sure. Have not found any official document stating this. But according to Dgoldman's WebLog (The daily adventures of an Escalation Engineer):http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2007/02/27/installing-outlook-2007-on-an-exchange-2007-server.aspx "Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 no longer ships with the client side binaries. Now it is supported to install Outlook 2007 on the same computer on which you have installed Exchange 2007."That being said, I try hard to avoid that anything that isn't strictly necessary gets installed on a production server.MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

Thanks for this. It would be nice if MS could put this information into something 'official' like modifying the kb article I mentioned to include this information. If anyone from MS is watching this thread, it might make them think about it...
