Can anyone tell me the max number of e-mail addresses a mailbox can have
I have a Mailbox at my company that we use to verify accounts on the net. This mailbox has a lot of e-mails in it and I think I might have reached the default limit. Could anyone tell me exactly how many e-mails you can have in one users mailbox and if there if a way to increase this number if possible?

Hi, Also email addresses are stored in Active Directory as multi valued property. This limit comes from the number of values can be stored into any multivalued AD attribute, which is 800 in Windows 2000 forest and 1300 in Windows 2003 forest. For Win 2008 forest we will have to either google it or just post a thread in Windows AD forum. Regards,Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com

1206 e-mails right now are in the mailbox. The AD envirorment is 2003 AD. The error I get when trying to add the new e-mails is Microsoft Exchange Error Set-mailbox error: Active directory operation failed on server. This error is not retriable. The administrative limit for the rewuest was exceeded. Active directory response: 00002024:svcerr:dsid-02050529.problem 5008(ADMIN_LIMIT_EXCEEDED).data 1026 the administration limit on the server was exceeded

OK can u open ADSIEdit on your exchange server, and then try to add the email address in "ProxyAddresses" property of your user. I think it will work. Also the limit for the multivalued object in a non-linked attribute in the Active Directory directory service is defined by the operating system version and by its forest functional level. What AD forest level are u in currently? According to this table from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914036 you can have 1300 if your server is win 2003 with 2003 interim or 2003 forest functional level. Operating system version Forest functional leve Value Windows 2000 Server Mixed mode or native mode 800 Windows Server 2003 Windows 2000 Server (default) 800 Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2003 interim 1300 Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2003 1300 I think that if your mailbox has 1200+ email address then you can go upto 1300.
