Cannot add group to Exchange View-only admins
HiWe are currently running Exchange 2007 SP1/Exchange 2003 SP2 mixed in a 2003 AD forest. Our forest root is company.com, and we have child domains of europe.company.com and asia.company.comIn the forest root, there are Exchange 2007 groups such as Exchange View-Only admins, Exchange Org Admins etc.I am on an Exchange server in the asia domain, Exch1.asia.company.com, and trying to add "Asia\ITSupport" as a View-only adminsitrator to the Exchange org via the Exchange Management Console. Asia\ITSupport is a Universal security group (not mail-enabled).I keep receiving an error saying that DC1.company.com cannot see this group and the error is not re-retriable. DC1 is the Infrastructure Master in the forest root and *not* a Global Catalog. Some questions:i) Any ideas why I can't add this group (or any other similar group) to the View only adminsii) I'm not sure why the error is coming up saying DC1.company.com cannot see "Asia\ITSupport". Surely if DC1 is not a GC, it would not see this group anyway?iii) In the forest root, there is a group called "Exchange View-Only Administrators"...should I just add "Asia\ITSupport" to this group directly?iv) In order to add "Asia\ITSupport" via EMC, does the group need to be mail-enabled, and why?

Hi,Where is the exchange installed? Please check the event 2080 to see which GC has been found by Exchange. Please ensure that the DC replication is in good statuse. Please ensure that these DCs can ping each other. You can try to open ADUC and then "Connect to Domain Contorller" to test the communication. Operations master roles http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773108(WS.10).aspxQ3: You can add member to Exchange View-Onlyy Administrators group from ADUC.After that, you can run "get-exchangeadministrator |fl" to checkif Asia\ITSupport group has been recognized as ViewOnlyAdmin.Q4: Wedo not have tocreate mailbox for that group.Regards,Xiu
