Cannot change/modify contacts in Exchange 2010 GAL via Outlook 2010
Hello, I have an Exchange Server 2010 RTM with SP1 installed. I have added a user to the "Organization Management" RBAC role group and tested to verify that he is indeed a member. Next, I open a GAL contact in Outlook 2010 and attempt to modify it's properties, but when I click on "Save", I get an error that say's I do not have the permissions to do so. I cannot for the life of me find where I need to add "these permissions" to edit a contacts properties. Please help!!

What field/attribute are you trying to change? Most of the fields are going to be governed by AD permissions.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

I cannot add any data to empty fields, nor edit any of the existing fields. The ID I am attempting this with is a member of the Domain Admins and Organization Management groups.

Can you edit the properties from the ECP? Log into OWA, Options -> Manage My Organization. I am not sure if you can edit directly from the Address Book in Outlook. I know you can from the ECP.Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

Hi Zone, That's by design. You cannot do that by using Outlook. However, ECP is feasible. Additionally, the below is the similiar thread which provides the workaround for this issue: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/b49f3438-6b52-41ba-a244-f4b9268439c2 Thanks AllenAllen Song
