Cannot disable Out of Office assistant
We have a migration ongoing whereby we are moving from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010. Right now we have a mixture of 2007 / 2010 servers in the organisation. Outlook users recently found that out of office autoreplies can no longer be turned off, or indeed
on. So, users that had an OOF message enabled can't diable it, and users wanting to set an OOF message, cannot.
Any ideas?

Hi,
You may have a corrupt OOF rule. I have had this happen to me before. I used to have to use MDBvu32 before to fix this but luckily there's a better tool out there now, MFCMapi.
Take the user with the issue and follow this blog post by MVP Amit Tank and see if it remedies your issue.

Hiya,
We actually just fixed the issue, and it was simply that the "Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Assistant" service on our Exchange 2007 server had stopped. Re-starting the service caused out of office functionality to be restored.
Problem fixed!
Peter.

That's good to hear. I thought it strange that it was happening to multiple accounts.

The problem that occurred on this particular event deals with the status qou of" out of Office Assistant", this would be very fascinating and challenging theme

If firms like "Konsultek" wish to use the Microsoft Forums to place tawdry adverts, hawking IT consulting services, I would advise the use of the spelling checker (Qou <-> Quo) and possibly get the advert copy written by someone
with a basic grasp of English grammar.
This advert has no place here.
