Is it happening to all the groups?
I assume you are trying to add or remove the members from the Group, What happens in Outlook?

Hello,

I recommend you use Get-DistributionGroup cmdlet to check if you can query for existing distribution groups successfully.

Please check if there is any related error in application log.

I am having the same issue.

It's happening on all the distribution/security groups.

Get-DistributionGroup cmdlet works.

OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2

I updated the Exchange to Exchange 2013 SP1 and the problem persisted.

Please help!

Hello,

Please try to increase timeout for ECP to check the result.

PLease Launch Command Prompt using Elevated Mode and ran the following commands:

C:\windows\system32\Inetsrv\

Appcmd add backup "BackupTimeOut"
Appcmd set config "Default Web Site/ecp" -section:httpRuntime -executionTimeout:2400
Appcmd set config "Exchange Back End/ecp" -section:httpRuntime -executionTimeout:2400

Let us know what happens after increasing the TimeOut value.
Do you see anything in event log? If you can post it, then it would be very helpful.

Hi,

I have tried to reproduce issue in LAB but in LAB everything is working like a charm, I have noticed, that I am able to access https://localhost:444/ecp on my backend servers in LAB, but when I try on live servers I receive bad request 400 errror, so there might be something misconfigured on IIS/backend side. Also in LAB it is quick so I think that increasing timeout won't be solution for me.

Same problem here with fresh Exch 2013 SP1 , on two locations in europe. One exchange opens distribution groups quickly as expected, and the other one is slow, takes about a minute

something is wrong here and needs to be fixed.

also on the slow server, Get-EcpVirtualDirectory returns nothing ..... the good server returns the ecp virtual directory straight away...

any help on this?

Guys we need some help on this issue

we have increased the timeout and YES it will open the distribution group eventually but it takes 5 minutes!!

we have a group reorganisation to do and it will take me a week to do a 5 minute job that was before!

pls help - what is wrong with that part of ECP?

I have solved this by creating ad site just for exchange and place dedicated domain controller there. Slow ECP distribution groups are definitely AD thing.

I think i found a way !

I basically logged in the ECP with a different administrator and it worked!!

the original admin was "administrator" and that is the admin who did the exhcange installation...and upto this moment i dont understand why the main administrator cannot open distribution groups in ecp , but when i tried with another admin they open right away...so it has nothing to do with AD and Sites.

my problem is solved and i will be using the other admin to modify my groups.

what about you guys? try it pls

Perfect

Yes I created a new support account added them to organisation management group and bank straight away I was able to edit distribution groups and mailbox delegation.

Very Strange

Having same problem, going to try a new admin, but I really don't want to not use my own account. Apparently this is a bug that needs fixed.

Another user works for me as well, there is still a slight delay it seems opening distribution groups but it is about 5-10 seconds vs. 20-60seconds on my main account which I installed Exchange from.....If I get some time I might put in a support ticket for this.
