Cannot perform GRT backup on virtual Exchange 2013 on Windows server 2012 r2 host
I am using Symantec Backup 2013 to attempt a GRT backup on our Information Store but the options on the application disappear prior to being able to make the VM choices for Exchange. The Symantec techs (after much research) have informed me that this
issue is specific to Exchange Server 2013 but they do not know what the solution is for proper communication from the Server to the Backup Exec on another server.
Apparently it is a quick solution but so far I have not been able to nail down anything concrete. I do have Cumulative update 1 for Exchange Server 2013 (KB2816900) installed. Any ideas where to point me for a solution?

I dont know Symantec support is referring to but if you are running 2013 CU1, you are running a version that is completely out of date and chock full of bugs.
You should be at CU7.

Thanks. I have installed CU7 over the weekend and still no ability to backup the Information Store via Symantec. The option temporarily appears but prior to selecting it, the option goes away. It seems like the all options are available while the two servers
are negotiating communication, but as soon as the server is identified the options disappear. I do have the correct license with Symantec. Any other ideas?

Do the GRT options appear & remain for selection if you try to backup the Exchange server via the Remote Agent and not as a VM ?

1. Yes, if I set up a backup for the Exchange Server via the Remote Agent the GRT options remain.
