Cannot send replies, or new emails on Outlook web access and windows 7
Hello, I have recently got a windows 7 pc at work and am trying to get Outlook Web Access to work. At first I was getting a little red cross when clicking on new or trying to reply to an email. I read a few articles, one of which advised me to update the email security by downloading the latest version of the S/MIME control. After doing this, I will now let me type an email and when I got to click send it it says Internet explorer has stopped working, then when I press ok it closes the email window down. Any help would be great please!! Thank you

The S/MIME "fix" rarely resolves the issue. Are you the Exchange administrator? If not, then you need to tell them that OWA needs to be updated as it is missing some updates. These are required for Internet Explorer 7 and higher support. It isn't an issue with Windows 7, but the version of IE. If you are the Exchange server admin then you need to run Microsoft Update which will pull in the updates. The Exchange best practises tool will also flag missing updates. As an end user, there is nothing you can do to fix this issue. It is a server update that is required. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/

Hi, Does the symptom occur on certain machine or each machine? If everyone cannot send email via Outlook Web Access, the issue can occur by server side. Otherwise, it can be caused by client side, such as incompatible third party programs or incorrect IE settings. At this stage, I suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue on the client side. 1. Reset Internet Explorer 8 settings on the Windows 7 PC. 2. Perform a clean boot to disable third party application. Note: A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with other device drivers or programs that are installed in your computer. a) Start the machine on the problematic machine and type MSCONFIG.EXE in Run Command in Start menu. b) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click "Disable All". c) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during start-up.) d) Restart the computer. Does the problem still persist? If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit. Meanwhile, please log on the same Mailbox on another Windows 7 machine to narrow down the cause.
