Cant connect to Exchange via Outlook2013 in Win8.1, but can on iOS

Hi there,

I am running Win8.1 with Outlook 2013. I am trying to connect to my company's Exchange system that they host. Currently I can connect to the mail account just fine via my iPhone running the native mail app and the new Outlook app that they recently released.

When I try to configure my Exchange account on my Surface, I can't seem to get connected. My personal machine is not on a domain, but our company is on a domain. So when I configure all the settings the windows dialog comes up to add in my credentials, but it shows my personal Domain/Username, vs corp domain.

I assume there has to be a workaround since I can login just fine via my phone, but for some reason on my computer it doesn't work. Thoughts on steps to troubleshoot this?

If you are remote, and not on the domain, you may need to connect to a VPN prior to setting up your account.

I'm assuming you're trying to set this up by either clicking the outlook icon and following the steps, or, via control panel, mail, profiles.

If a VPN is not available, you'll need the external connection information in order to connect.

for example, if you are trying to set this up, you'll probably have a wizard window that will ask you if you are doing this automatically, or manual setup

Check with your exchange administrator to determine what method you should be using (cached mode, exchange over http, POP, etc.)

Hi,

Which version of Exchange server are you using?

When you are working outside your organization's firewall, we can use the Outlook Anywhere feature to access your Exchange account remotely from the Internet without VPN.

To enable Outlook Anywhere in Outlook, please follow the steps below:

1. Click File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

2. Select the Exchange account, and then click Change.

3. Click More Settings, and then click the Connection tab.

4. Under Outlook Anywhere, select the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP check box.

5. To specify a proxy server, click Exchange Proxy Settings.

6. Under Proxy authentication settings, click Basic Authentication or NTLM Authentication as instructed by your Exchange administrator.

For detailed steps, you can refer to the following link:

Please let me know if this works.
