Change on SP1 for setting up code page on received messages
When we receive emails containing special Kanji characters, it causes the whole body of the email to be garbled on Exchange Server 2007 SP1 with Rollup 3. It's not happeningon all emails containing Japanese text but only on emails containing specific Kanji characters (non-system font?). Without SP1, it just converts only the specific Kanji character to a center dot, and othercharacters on the body are displayedfine. Is there any way to tweak the setting on SP1 so that it can workin the same waynon-SP1 Exchange works? Thank you.

Did you see this KB? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945324 It seems that the behavior that worked for you was actually a bug. I think Exchange determines the code page based on theheader of the message. If it cannot determine a code page, it reverts to the default code page for the system.

Mr. McBee, Thank you so much for the quick reponse. Yes, I have read the article, and the solution mentioned on the KB actually causes the problem. Without SP1, it works OK to us. We can survive with only specific characters converted into a dot as long as other whole part is displayed fine. It actually worked in that way when we were with Exchange 2003 also. The problem we can not accept started when SP1 is applied to Exchange 2007. I understand if it's just a bug as you mentioned, so we probably just need to wait until SP2 will be available. By the way, just yesterday, Rollup 4 for Exchange 2007 SP1 was available through Windows Update, so applied it but it did not fix the issue.... Thank you so much, again.

Have you registered this issue with Microsoft? This may well be a bug, but if it has not been reported then it won't get on the list of things to they need to address. I'm hoping one of the Microsoft PSS guys can weigh in on this using the internal KB.

Mr. or Ms. Zhang, Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have been wondering about the Rollup 4 since I have not been able to get any detail information (even actual KB article with that number), so I will uninstall it although our server has not had any problem due to that so far. If GFI you suggested to update is a 3rd party program, we don't have it installed on our Exchange 2007 server. Thank you, again!

Official Rollup 4 for Exchange 2007 SP1 came out about a month ago, so applied it, but it still did not fix this issue. Mr. McBee earlier mentioned that I should register this problem to get MS working on it. Could you please let me know how to register the problem. I have tried to do it, but nothing seems to have worked so far. Thank you so much.
