Change threshold for low disk space events
Hi Is it possible, on an Exchange 2010 server, to change the thresholds (1GB) for when event ID 10014 and 10015 are generated on the server. e.g. could the events be triggered when free space drops to, say, 5Gb instead of 1 ? thanks

Hi I don't know what the full event ID is as it hasn't happened yet. I'd just like an event to be logged well before the space gets as low as the default 1GB on either the logs or database disks. Thanks

Please provide the details of the event. 10014 and 10015 apply to MRM and COM and so on. What is the event source and category or post the event id copy that you are referring to.

If this warning is a part of Back Preasure. you can edit the transportconfig.exe file in the installation directory and modify the disk related counters. if this is related to normal warninngs i see very little chance of modificaton Thank youDhruv

Hi Thanks for your responses. The link to the article above is the issue I'm referring to but not what I'm asking. The server will stop sending/receiving email when event ID 10014 or ID 10015 are generated. These are generated when the disk space on the log or database volumes drops below 1GB. What I'm asking is - is there any way to have these events logged earlier - say, at 5GB or 10GB ? I appreciate email flow will stop earlier but at least it would give a bit more time to free up space before the databases fall over completely. We can generate emails based on event IDs now in W2008 (with Task Scheduler) so I'd like to do this for these events. As I said, it would be good if we got a bit more notice than only 1GB of free space. If it can't be done (reg hack etc) then that's fine - just be good to know. Thanks

1. From reading the link I posted it seems like this is built into exch and cannot be changed as. It's part of exch and how the store works. Also, I can see why this may not be allowed to changed and why it has been set. You should have basic monitoring on your disks that are used by exch, even if you use freeware to monitor disk or create a simple script.
