Changing Public Folder Permissions -- Log On / Log Off Required to Activate Permissions | Exchange 2003
Hi,
Sanity check please...
When using ESM 2003 to change public folder permissions on a universal security group, from Reviewer to Author, is it necessary for all of the users in the universal security group to log off and log back on in order to activate their new Author permissions
on that public folder?
Thanks in advance,
akakf

Per my local test, the permissions will take effect after performing a manual send/receive (Press F9)

The lab is exchange 2003 SP1 + Outlook 2003 SP3
User 1 is in the “Finance” group (Universal Security Group), I have previously granted “Reviewer” permission to the “Finance”
group on the “Archive” public folder
So, user 1 can view the posts on the “Archive” public folder, but not create a post
Then, I modified the permissions to “Non-Editing Author” via ESM. After press F9 to update the outlook client, user 1 can create post
on the “Archive” public folderPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate. Would you (or anyone else) know of articles (e.g., KB), that speak to how permissions work with public folders. Sounds like it's a different animal from how NTFS permissions work.
Thanks,
