Changing Visio 2010 filenames for a mapped explorer drive of a Sharepoint Library corrupts file

I have a user who has the following scenario. He has mapped his SharePoint 2010 document library to a drive. He has a Visio 2010 document. He changes the name of the document via the explorer window. The name changes successfully but the Visio file is now corrupted and can't be opened. If the name is changed wholly within SharePoint all is fine.

Can anyone help with:

1. Why?

2. Any solution?

Thanks

Hi,

Just a guess, I think you change the name in the explorer, it will be recognized as it is changed the name locally, and do not change the name to the sharepoint.

I think if you want to change the file name, then after changing, re-publish the file to sharepoint.

Hi

Thanks for your response. Tried that and it is still not working. Also if I rename a Word or Excel file within explorer it is fine; so it is something unique to Visio.
