Good day, I am running a SBS server with Exchange 2003 SP2. when im trying to get a reply for my send mail i get a error: Technical details of permanent failure:PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 13): 550 5.1.1 <mark@*.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table Sending mail to an external account is no problem but recieving is. i have a new domain at an hosting company but i dont know how to put it in exchange so it uses that address.. Current domain name: @company.com New domain name: @company-exchange.nl Do i need to change my domain or can i set a rule or something in exhangen so it uses the new domain name? I know its a vage problem but i don't know any other way to say it. If you need more information let me know

If i'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like its a new domain your having problems with? Assuming you've got the right MX record, you probably just need to create a recipient policy to tell exchange that it is authoritative for that domain. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249299

*Because of vacation i was away for some time* I've updated the recipient policies but its still not working. MX record is ok as far as i know. Anything else i can try?

you could test your recipient policy, MX records and firewall rules. Try email validation from here: http://network-tools.com/ Also, to test your recipient policy you could try to relay mail to the new domain via command line; if you get a 'relay denied' error message then the recipient policy is not correct: Telnet exchangeserver.domain.local 25 This will connect to your mail server on port 25 (the smtp port) SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Type "EHELO (site you want the mail server to record you connecting from...this can be anything you want)" Some mail servers do not require this line. If you want the mail server/receiver of the email to know who this email is from type "MAIL FROM: yourname@whereever.com (replace this with whatever you want) To tell the mail server where you want your mail to go to type "RCPT TO: (this is where you'll put in the new domain name) Then type "DATA" Type your message Then terminate the message with enter . enter Type "QUIT"
