Changing user name and mailbox
Hello,I'm sure this is a very simple question, but since I am new to Exchange 03, it is making it a little difficult for me.So, a user just got married and her last name has changed.I can change her name in Active Directory and that changes it in the directory and also in the address book.I seemed to have changed every instance of her old name to the new one so far.My question is: since her last name changed, her email address will obviously change as well.I can I keep both addresses up and running simultaneously so that any contacts who email her old address will still come through to the new address?Or, can I create a bounce-back message that the sender will receive notifying them of the new address change?Thanks

Bring up the properties of her account in the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in and go to the EMail Addresses tab. You can manually addan additional SMTP address containing her new name and then mark that as the primary address, i.e. the address she sends outbound messages with. Inbound, she'll be able to receive on both addresses.

Thank you. I was able to do that with no problem.So, that leads me to my next question.If I delete her old address, when a sender sends here messages, they will get a bounce-back message saying that the intended mailbox is not valid. Is there anyway to customize that message in case I wanted to notify the sender that the mailbox changed to a new address?

Don't delete the old SMTP address - make sure this user has BOTH addresses, with her new name shown as the primary (bold) address. This way, she can receive emails on both address so there is no need to send bounce-back messages. Furthermore, any replies she sends to emails addressed to her old address will be sent from her new address.
