Client receiving messages intended to other client
I have a user claiming that he received a message from an external address that was intended to some else in the organization. I looked at the server logs and the message headers. They both tell me that the email was sent to him. The external sender says that he sent the message to someone else within my organization and not the person that got the message. Is there any other place to check or do you know if that is possible? A user getting messages intended for other users? This is the first time it has happened and I checked their rules, email settings (both client and server) and everything seems in order. Have a look at the message header and see to whom it was addressed. Shaba

I did that too and it was addressed to the person claiming that the message was not intended to him. Same with the transport logs..it tells me that the message was sent to the person claiming that the message was not intended to him.***** This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

If the message header says that message was for the wrong person, we should suspect that was sent with a wrong address, may be accidental. If possible, Ask the external sender to provide the original mail he sent from sent items as an attachment, so that you can cross verify the address he used. Good luck !Shaba
