I lost a HUB/CAS server once, and had to do a restore. Thanks so much for the fast reply, Mike. This is something I didn't know and I'm sure it will come in handy some day. However, it relies on Active Directory entries. My problem is that I have to rebuild the server's OS so there won't be any Active Directory entries available for Exchange Setup to use. Is there a way to backup the Exchange entries in Active Directory, rebuild the OS, restore the AD/Exchange entries after the rebuild, and then use the /m:RecoverServer switch as you propose?Peter

So you want to rebuild the organization rather than recover from backup? Per my knowledge, exchange configuration cannot be backuped separately from AD, we need to backup it within AD system status Please see the article "What Needs to Be Protected in an Exchange Environment", it will tell how to backup necessary files for each server role and restore them
