Computer Browser Service Disabled
I am running E2k7 SP1 on Windows 2008 Standard. I noticed the Computer Browser service is disabled. While this isn't a problem for the server, it means that this server doesn't show up in the computer list in BackupExec. I have other options within backup exec but my question is - is it normal or recommended to have the Computer Browser service disabled on Windows 2008 running Exchange 2007 SP1.
Thank you.

By default Computer Browser service is disabled in Windows 2008. It basically used by NetBIOS over TCP/IP but if you have all the servers in Active Directory and DNS is configured then NetBIOS over TCP/IP doesnt really required.
Further information about NetBIOS over TCP/IP can be found in Chapter 11 of below book.

Yes, Computer Browse has been disabled by default. This default state can cause problems for a DC in the primary domain controller flexible single master operations (PDC FSMO) role. To prevent such problem, you can configure the startup type to Automatic and then start it
