Computer not in the same active directory domain
Hey guys! I have been pounding my head aginst the wall on this problem to no avail. This is a clean environment no exchange 2003 servers exist.
I have 1 forest with 1 child domain. Lets call it abc.com and child.abc.com. The DC's in each domain are Win2k3 SP2 32bit. I have a 64bit member server of child.abc.com that I want to use as my exchange server. Win2k3 64bit SP2.
From the root DCI ran the following using the exh07 32bit enterprise ed eval
setup /prepareschema verified replication with replmon
setup /preparead /organizationname:"ABC Org" verified replication with replmon
setup /preparedomain:child.abc.com
When I go to use the exch07 ent ed sp1 cd to start my install on my 64bit member server in child.abc.com I get the following:
Organization PrerequisitesFailed
Error:Setup needs to contact the Active Directory schema master but this computer is not in the same Active Directory domain as the schema master (DC=abc,DC=org).Recommended Action: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=30939&l=en&v=ExBPA.3&id=2376fec1-b9ce-44db-beb6-cb9ac4788988
Error:Setup encountered a problem while validating the state of Active Directory: Exchange organization-level objects have not been created, and setup cannot create them because the local computer is not in the same domain and site as the schema master. Run setup with the /prepareAD parameter on a computer in the domain trizetto and site Default-First-Site-Name, and wait for replication to complete.
Elapsed Time: 00:00:07
So going through more solutions I went through and tried the following:
From the root DCI ran the following using the exh07 32bit enterprise ed eval
setup /prepareschema /domaincontrollerc1.abc.com verified replication with replmon
setup /preparead /organizationname:"ABC Org" /domaincontrollerc1.abc.com verified replication with replmon
setup /preparedomain:child.abc.com /domaincontrollerc1.child.abc.com
Same error so I went back agian and ran:
setup /preparealldomains
Same error...
What is going on?!?!?! What have I missed??
I verfied that the dc1.abc.com does hold all of my FSMO roles...
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
I would like to know whether you use the Exchange 2007 RTM CD to extend schema. If I am right, please use Exchange 2007 SP1 to prepare Active Directory in the Active Directory site which has the Schema Master.

Hi Mike thanks for the reply!
Not sure which one really fixed my issue, but I took your advice and added a 64bit member server to my root level domain and prep'd the domains again. But still failed. I eventually realized that the biggest issue was I failed to add the administrator accountfrom child.abc.com to the Exchange Organization Administrators group in abc.com domain. Once I did that, my issue was resolved!
Thanks again for the response!
