Conference rooms created as a user account
Our help desk guys created a couple of conference rooms and created them as user accounts instead of Resources. Apparently they've been manually managing the permissions for these conference rooms in Outlook.
These conference room accounts have been in use for several months now and are loaded with scheduled meetings. Is it safe for me to convert these 3 conference rooms to a Resource and not lose any of the scheduled meetings?
Exchange version 2007
Thanks a lot

This should not cause you any problems to convert a user account to a "room". It really only sets an additional property so that the object can be viewed properly from the Global Address List. Below is a link to some instructions on how to switch
it from regular user to a room type.

I agree with Jim.
When you cover a user account to a “room”, these changes will take place:
IsResource: True
UserAccountControl: AccountDisabled
ExchangeUserAccountControl: AccountDisabled
LinkedMasterAccount: NT AUTHORITY\SELF
RecipientTypeDetails: RoomMailbox
AddressListMembership: In addition to the Default GAL and All Users address lists, the mailbox is made a member of All Rooms address list
I also tested in my lab (Exchange 2007 SP3), when you change one user mailbox to a room mailbox, the scheduled meetings in user mailbox will not lose.
Thanks

Thank you Evan - My main concern was losing any scheduling information.
I appreciate your help!
Thanks

I created a test account and converted it from a user to a room account. Is there a setting to "Auto accept requests"?
Right now when I schedule meetings for this resource, nothing is being accepted.
Thanks!
