Hi Thomas, Based on our research, Exchange, with transport rule or throttling, cannot limit a mobile device connection for the message number or megabytes it will download. Not sure if a firewall or a third party network monitor tool can do it. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support

Hi Fiona, thanks for the relay. Isnt ActiveSync based on the HTTP(S) Protocoll? So we want to limit the traffic for specific https connections like OWA, ActiveSync, ECP, etc. Do you know if it is possible to configure the IIS in the way that it blocks specific requests. So that it isnt possible to write more than x mails per OWA session or Active Sync connection. Kind regards Thomas regards Thomas Paetzold visit my blog on: http://sus42.wordpress.com

Hi Tomas, In Exchange 2003, Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) was implemented as an ISAPI extension. EAS communicated with the Back End server (BE) using DAV. In Exchange 2007, Exchange ActiveSync is part of the Client Access Server. It is implemented as an ASP.NET handler. So you might get help from the development frum http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdevelopment/threads. Your undrstanding would be appreciated.
