Configuration Problem With Exchange 2003
I am running Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 server. The server resides in Domain1. I have E-mail accounts in Domain1 and two other domains, Domain2 and Domain3 on the server. I have a POP3/SMTP client on my XP Desktop machine configured in Outlook with username and password in each of the E-mail domains. I am able to receive mail in all three domains from the server but I cannot send mail to the Internet. The server will not relay my meaasges. If I construct messages using the Web-based client, it all works fine. I have read all the articles I can find on the Internet and I have checked the configuration on the server. It all looks correct. The only way I can get it to work is to enter the IP address of my desktop computer in the Access Table under Relay Restrictions with the "Only the list below" ticked in the SMTP Virtual Server Properties Access tab. This is fine for me but not for the other, remote clients with dynamic IP addresses. Does anyone have a known working solution to the problem? If so, detailed, step by step instructions for configuring the server would be greatly appreciated. I should add that the SMTP Default Virtual Server is used to provide services to clients as well as to relay to the Internet and is locked down to prevent unauthorised relaying. Thank you.

Hi, Please clarify the issue with me first. You can use pop/smtp to receive but cannot send message, is that right? Then what is the error when you try to send message. Does this issue occur to all the pop/smtp users? Occur to user in domain1? Domain2? Domain 3? Can you send message to the internal user? Do you have any smarthost/firewall configured in front of your Exchange Server? If yes, please try to post the detail configuration information here.
