Configure Shared Mailbox
Hello, my enviroment is Exchange 2007 SP3. I have to create a mailbox which has to be accessed for several users. Then, I have thought in a shared mailbox. It is correct? I have created a user (marketing) in AD, and then I have related a mailbox (exchange) for this user. Once done this, I have configured Full Access and Send As for the three users that have to use this mailbox, but when this users open Outlook, no folder appears in his list of folders. I have tried with Outlook 2007 and 2010, but the result was the same. Some idea¿? Thanks in advance.

Hi, You have add the other mailbox as additional mailbox option in outlook: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/outlook/add-additional-mailbox-to-outlook-2007/, then they can change the from field & send mail form that shared mailbox. Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Thanks very much Ripu, for your quick and useful request! With these steps I have configured Outlook to add an additional folder and I am able to receive emails in this additional folder, but, when I want to send an email using this additional account I receive the following message: --- Could not deliver to these recipients or distribution lists: recipient X No permission to send this message because you try to send on behalf of another sender without permission. Make sure you are sending on behalf of the correct sender, or ask for help from system administrator to obtain the necessary permission. --- As I told you in my last post, I have granted permissions Full Access and Send As, for this user to use this additional account. Do you know why I can't sent emails from this additional account¿? Thanks in advanced.

Ok Ripu, I have followed step by step http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998291(EXCHG.80).aspx. Could you explain me with more detail about which AD permissions you are talking¿? Thanks again.

I have readed your first post, and I have configure AD persmissions to be able to manage "Send As", but I receive the same message: --- Could not deliver to these recipients or distribution lists: recipient X No permission to send this message because you try to send on behalf of another sender without permission. Make sure you are sending on behalf of the correct sender, or ask for help from system administrator to obtain the necessary permission. --- It could be for the time of replication. I have read that could be around 2 hours. I will wait and I will see what happens.

Hi, I may clarify the permission issues: The first step is to create a security group in your domain containing the users you want to access the shared mailbox. Grant full mailbox permissions for the group you just created using: Add-MailboxPermission cmdlet(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124097(EXCHG.80).aspx) Users in the the Security Group will now have full access to the mailbox. Then you MUST also add the active directory 'Send-As' permission so that members of the group can send mail with the shared mailbox's email address. Additionally, you may want to add permissions to read/write personal information as follows: Add-ADPermission (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124403(EXCHG.80).aspx) Regards from www.windowsadmin.info

Hi, You can also assign the right to single user also : http://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2008/09/01/how-to-find-all-mailboxes-with-send-as-permission-assigned/ You might have to wait some time for replication, as explained this article : http://www.shudnow.net/2007/08/12/send-on-behalf-and-send-as/Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Hi, Please create a shared mailbox and grant permission follow the step below: 1. Create a shared mailbox using the New-Mailbox cmdlet, simply add the “-shared” option. 2. And then, you can see the shared mailbox in the Exchange Management Console. 3. The next, create a security group and add the users you want to grant the permission. 4. Grant the full access permission for the group you just created. 5. Add the “Send As” permission so that the members of the group can send mail with the shared mailbox’s e-mail address. 6. Additionally, you may want to add permission to read/write personal information so that users can setup delegates if needed. 7. At last, you can configure an additional mailbox in Outlook so that you can access the shared mailbox. Here are some references, · For creating a new shared mailbox, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997663(EXCHG.80).aspx · To grant the full access permission, Send As permission and read or write personal information permission, you can refer the ManU Philip’s reply. · To configure an additional mailbox for shared mailbox, you can refer the original post by Ripu Daman. Please test it when you finish the steps above, and check the issue. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Best regards, Serena
