Connector Cost in exchange Server 2003-----Same cost
HI ALL I hvae Exchange 2003 in prod with 2 mail security gateways connected with two connectors from my exchange server canI put same connector cost (for load balance / reduncy) to my both devices will it work? which device will take proority? I have not find any useful tips from net to configure. Thanks RK

Hi, You canconfigure 2 connectors with the same cost or one connector with 2 smart-hosts. One connector with 2 smart-hosts do loadbalance the trafic between the remote servers. Leif

HI Leif In this scnerio which connector will take priority over the otherI alreday configured with cost 50 on both connectors one connected is down( means the device down which is connected to this connector) and its not taking the other to sent mail out.....how do I configure. Thanks

Hi Kumar, Please configure a SMTP connector like below: - Create a SMTP connector: - Selected Forward to smarthost. Typed 2 IP addresses of gateways servers to forward mail to. IPs are listed between [ ] and are separated by a comma - Bridgehead server only has local Default SMTP Virtual Server - address space: * (or according to your requirement) - Restarted Routing Engine and SMTP service Please check the issue again. I would like to explain that Mail should be distributed across the smarthosts, although not truly load balancing. Each time a new connection is made, a target smarthost is picked at random from the list. If one of the targets is down, mail will deliver in the same manner among the remain smarthost. Mike
