The OST is a local file on the PC and contains the everything that's synchronized between the server when using cached mode and/or offline folders. How you would recover depends on the version of Exchange Server you're running, something you didn't share with us.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

You can restore the mailbox database to a recovery storage group and use Restore-Mailbox to restore the Contacts folder.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
