Corrupt Mailbox Store Exchange 2003
I had a crash on our Exchange 2003 server and the datastore would not mount after getting the server back online. I am in the midst of restoring the original mailbox store using Backup Exec to a recovery group, but seeming I can nto get the original mailbox
store to mount can I create a new mailbox store (empty) and move back mailboxes?
The backup was done a couple nioghts ago and I can nto resotre all mailboxes as some just moved to a ne 2007 server, so I need to only restore certain ones. How can I do this?

Yes;
you can move the EDB and STM files to an alternate location OR rename the directory the files are in and then create a new one, i.e. if the EDB, STM files are in Exchsrvr/mdbdata rename the MDBDATA to OLD_MDBDATA so that you can work on recovering
data from them later and then create a new MDBDATA folder Mount the store and Exchange will squawk telling you that the database files are missing and that if you continue you Exchange will create new database files for you
Click Yes and the new DB files will be created so that users can send and receive new emails
Next make a copy of the EDB and STM so that you are NOT working with your only copy
Then you can attempt to mount that problem database within the RSG and merge the data back into the new mailboxes OR if you want to swap the DB recovered from backup into production and merge the delta data from the new database you can follow the dial-tone
methodology here PART 1

Hi,
Did you backup the latest transaction log? you need to put edb, stm and log files in the same folder.
run eseutil /mh on priv1.edb and pub.edb
If you lost your tansaction log you can ran eseutil /p priv1.edb to fix your database
then make sure database is clean shutdown then run isinteg and mount the
database
If you can mount the database in RSG then you can recover the mailbox.
