Hi everyone, I have a client that was using SBS 2003 and wanted the new 2007 Exchange server. The transition to Exchange 2007 has been completed, but I have a few lingering problems. The biggest one is how to manage new users on the system. Exchange 2007 was seutp on a new server and the Exchange 2003 from SBS was pulled off. It is easy enough for me tosetup a mail enabled useron theExchange server. However, I want an easy and simple way for the office admin for this client to setup new users based on the SBS templates. Usually they just used a modified version of the "remote user" template. If you try to use this template now, it does not create a mail enabled user. You have to remote over to the Exchange server and set them up here as well. From what I've read, Exchange 2007 no longer snaps in to "Users and Computers" and instead you create new users from the Exchange Management Console (or set them up with mail here). Is this correct? Can this be simplified? Like I said, easy enough for me to do it, but this particular office admin gets confused easy and after years of using the SBS "new user" console, it is going to be a pain to train them to create new users in another fashion.

Use the 2007 management console. Creating a new mailbox gives you the option to create a new user. This will create a new user in AD structure. No need to create the user and then add a mailbox with management shell. After 2007 is installed and the backwards compatiable 2003 server is removed then you only have the option to manage the mailboxes with the 2007 management console or the new management shell. Exchange 2007 no longer has the AD structure additions that allows you to manage the mailboxes directly from AD users and computers. To make it simple for the office manager... I would write a script to use the new management shell to do all of it for them. they would just have to change the variables such as the username/etc....
