Hi, apologies for the dumb question, but after watching about 10 video and reading loads of web pages, I'm still having difficulty creating the simplest of custom shapes. But, I did it before and can't remember how! So, what I want is an l-shaped box where I can resize the height of the horizontal bar and the width of the vertical bar independently of the whole size. 

If I union two rectangles, I can resize the whole, but not the individual "bars". If I group two rectangles, I still have the overlap which I don't want. 

Once upon a time, I used to be able to start with simple shapes, create handles and pull them all over the place to create whacky shapes which would do the trick - I just do remember what the secret incantation was to make it happen. :)

Sorry, what do you mean by an I-shaped box? Is that not just a rectangle? Do you mean L-shaped?
