Does anyone know how long a DC will wait till promoting itself to a Global Catalog if it no longer see's one? I have to move a few servers in the near future and I would like to know how much time I have till problems start to arrive.. --Jon

Hi, A DC does not promote itself to a global catalog server. You must configure the DC to be a GC for this to happen. Leif

If you want to move DC's, then make sure you have a additional domain controller and make that DC has a GC. Transfer the FSMO roles to the new DC. So that you do not have to rush to bring back the other DC which you are taking offline.
