DNS related errors on Exchange
Hi
I'm running Exchange 2007 SP2 on Windows 2008 Server. We use a UNIX based DNS system.
I have a couple of Exchange clusters - SCC - Active/Active/Passive.
On each of them, within the System Log, I see the following errors:
Error - Event ID 1196 - Failover Clustering
Cluster network name resource "Network name (Exch1SCC)" failed registration of one or more associated DNS names for the following reasons:
DNS signature failed to verify"
And
Warning - Event ID 1119 - Failover Clustering
Cluster network name resource "Network name (Exch1SCC)" failed to register DNS name Exch1SCC.domain.com over adaptor NIC1 for the following reason
DNS Signature failed to verify"
However, the servers themselves seem to be working fine.
Can anyone shed any light?

Has your DNS protected the A record agains modification? Change the
protection to allow any authenticated user to modify the A record. The
protection may be at the DNS zone level. You may have to allow
non-secure updates.

Hi,
Does the error message keep popping up in Event Log or occur only once?
Since the servers can work normally, I suggest you run ExBPA to check whether any problem can be detected.
Thanks.

Hi
Thanks for the answers.
If I try to run ipconfig/registerdns on the server, would I expect this to work if the A records were protected? And when we say the A records are protected, are we basically saying that Dynamic DNS is disabled?
Finally, overall, what is the effect of these records not registering? As I mentioned, the servers do seem to work ok.
