You can use Performance Monitor and log counter MSExchangeIS Database ==> Instances > Log files generated > Information Store/_Total. Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

No, that's the TOTAL number of log files, not the number for one day.

Do you see events like this one in your application log at the end of
a backup?
.. Event Type: Information
.. Event Source: ESE
.. Event Category: Logging/Recovery
.. Event ID: 224
.. Date: 10/7/2011
.. Time: 10:11:24 PM
.. User: N/A
.. Computer: SRVR005
.. Description:
.. MSExchangeIS (592) SG01: Deleting log files
.. D:\ExchangeLogFiles\SG01\E0000003E6C.log to
.. D:\ExchangeLogFiles\SG01\E0000003F8A.log.
While it's not an absolutely accurate number (not all the log files
are deleted) you'll get a pretty good accounting of the log files
created between full/normal backups by simply subtracting one number
from the other.
Otherwise, you could run a script prior to the backup. Get the
LogFolderPath from get-storagegroup and then:
(get-childitem "$logfolderpath\*" -include E*.log -exclude
E*tmp.log).count

Monitor that counter. The day-to-day difference will give you the exact answer you asked for. Rich's way will work fine too if your backup solution writes that.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."
