Daylight Savings Time - urgent!!
Hello, I'm aware I'm a year behind. Last year I was not able to apply the patches as we were still running NT/Exchange 5.5 So we deployed no patches (not even OS), and had users manually change their time...All was well. Since I have a lot of OUtlook 2000 users, I had a lot of users without timezone information. I got around this issue by logging into OWA for the important people using a simple script. I ran the Exchange calendar tool just to see if the timezone information was there for the users, and it was. I didn't rebase anything, and the only errors I received was for users that did not have time zone information (don't care about these users). Last week I deployed the OS patches across the company as well as on the servers (including Exchange server). I also advised important users to manually enter their time in their appointments in the event that there were issues with the calendars. Once complete, I installed update 911829 as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941018/en-uson my Exchange server. I'm running Exchange 2003 sp2 and prior to the 911829 patch install, there were no patches installed. After that, I ran the "Grant Mailbox Permission" script without any problems, giving a non-domain admin permissions. I logged into a Windows xp sp2 machine with Outlook 2003 sp2, the Outlook Calendar tools (tzmove) installed, as well as ths dec 07 OS patch. I used the tzmove to rebase public folders...which seemed to work OK. I then attempted to run the Exchange Calendar update tool, and received this error message for every user: [2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrReadConfiguration:Log Directory is not set.[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrReadConfigurationystem Patch Date is not set.[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:Creating MAPI profile (MSExTmz-Extract-0x006BD0F3-3304)[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrProcessMailboxTablelease log on to a profile with administrator privileges.[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrProcessMailboxTablerocessing mailbox /O=company/OU==company/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=JOHNSMITH.[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindCDOTimezone:Unable to retrieve CDO Option Props: Error 0x8004010F[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindCDOTimezone:Returning Error 0x8004010F[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindMailboxTimezone:Unable to retrieve CDO Timezone: Error 0x8004010F[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindOWATimezoneerver Version:6:05:7638:02[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindOWATimezone:Unable to retrieve OWA Folder Props: Error 0x8004010F[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindOWATimezone:Returning Error 0x8004010F[2/25/2008 2:44:05 PM][3304]:HrFindMailboxTimezone:Unable to retrieve OWA Timezone: Error 0x8004010F[2/25/2008 2:44:06 PM][3304]:HrFindOutlookTimezone:Home Timezone Message not found.[2/25/2008 2:44:06 PM][3304]:HrFindOutlookTimezone:Returning Error 0x80004005[2/25/2008 2:44:06 PM][3304]:HrFindMailboxTimezone:Unable to retrieve Outlook Timezone: Error 0x80004005 Prior to installing the 911829 patch this error did not occur. I can login to the users mailbox and send/receive email. At the end, it says that the number of users who should have timezone information, do. This user above happens to be one of them. Outlook doesn't prompt for a profile.... I did this in a mock environment, and did NOT have this problem. Account it's running from is an Exchange Administrator, with send as access for all users, and full mailbox access. I'm running it on a laptop where the user has local admin rights. I couldn't figure the error out, so opted to go the route of using the outlook calendar tool for users who rely on their calendar. When testing, I noticed that single instance appointments created in the extended DST period are NOT updated. Only reoccuring appointments. All of these single instance appointments were created on systems without the OS DST patch. I'm concerned that I will have to manually move these, or users will be an hour late for everything. After a successful run of the Outlook tool I plan on installing patch 926666 on the Exchange server. I tried contact MS regarding this, but management will never pay for support (they didn't even want to patch), and the free DST support doesn't exist anymore. Can someone please offer some insight!? I've read so much information on Microsoft's website, as well as other users' experiences (not plesant), and am having a tough time wrapping my head around it, as well as finding a lot contradicting information. Thanks!!
