Decomposition Tree

Hi Guys,

I have enabled the decomp tree on my scorecard and the option appears as a right click (which is good).  What is bad however is that when one launches the Decomp Tree it only displays the top node.  If I try to drill down using the Decomp tree the second node will not display.

If I use Excel and drill down on the value via dimension A it works fine.  If I use the Decomp Tree the second node and further just dont display.  Are there rules around the types of Calculations that are supported by the decomp tree?

Thanks in advance,

Ash

Ok,

So it appears that having certain logic in the calc breaks the decomp tree.  I had this calc:

SUM(PeriodstoDate([Close Dt].[Financial].[Financial Year], ancestor([Close Date Set].item(0), [Close Dt].[Financial].[Financial Month Year]).lag(1)),([Measures].[Incremental Sales]))

Decomp Tree Doesnt Work.

Hi Heidi,

The KPI was definitely from an SSAS source.  The only thing that happens is the node doesnt display. And they were set to Data Value.

How we resolved it was to put the calcs in the warehouse instead of in the cube.

Thanks,

Ash

Hello,

Can you give us some more information around how you setup your Decomp Tree and where is it pulling the data from?  Are you using AS or another type of data source?

Do you get any errors or just that the second node does not display?

The reason I ask is that Decomposition tree can only be used with Analysis Services data sources. It cannot be used with data that is pulled from the following: Excel Services, Import from Excel Workbook, SharePoint List, SQL Server Table, or other custom data sources. We have seen errors with KPIs if the actual or target calculation is set to "Data value."

Thanks

Ash,

Do Microsoft pay you to improve their products? They should.
