Default Address List
Hello,
I use Exchange 2007 and all my users are complaining about getting the address list "Site1" as default instead of the Global Address book. Below (and sorry about the way I presented it). I compared site1 with site 2 and I do not see any difference.
Those users use Outlook 2007 or 2010 and the workaround is to download manually the entire global address book in order to have it as default. Otherwise the Site1 is always the default one.
Could you please help me to understand better and find the solution. I have already tried to force sync and search on Internet but could not get to find the appropriate solution..

Since you dont see a difference between the useres using get-mailbox, compare all the attribute settings from site 1 user and site 2 user using adsiedit.

Thanks. I've just created a test mailbox in a particular test OU and it returned:
AddressListMembership: {Default Global Adress List, All Users}
I set up that mailbox with Outlook and everything's spot on! However I still hear users complaining that when they create a new email and click on the "To..." button they get the address list from the site2 and NOT the {Default Global Adress List, All
Users}.
I was wondering if that could be a wrong creation from the Active directory group (Users are created by the AD group then I enable the mailbox from existing users..). What do you think? and how can I correct that?

Hello,
I compared all strings and could not find much difference:
SITE1
gPOptions value = 0
msDS-Approx-Immed-Subordinates = 7
SITE2
gPOptions value = <not set>
msDS-Approx-Immed-Subordinates = 8
However from the following path C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\OAB\0686092-af9-42f8-a2d6-e58118b2c4
I opened the oab.xml and noticed that the below sting is set to site2!
OAL id='4f851fe4-3d7b-4873-b58c-39755debf' dn='/guid=9DA8F4CAD3B5746A0577BAB6636D' name='\SITE2'>
Therefore, from Organization Configuration; Mailbox; Tab "Offline Address Book".
I open the properties of the "Default Offline Address Book"
Then from the "Address Lits" tab
The folowing options are ticked:
"Include the default Global Address list"
"Include the folloing address lists"
-->I have removed all my site and re-add them again. I added the last address list called "All users", which does the same as the global address book.
After a while I checked the oab.xml and noticed that the below sting is set to the lastest address list I added!
OAL id='4f851fe4-3d7b-4873-b58c-39755debf' dn='/guid=9DA8F4CAD3B5746A0577BAB6636D' name='\ALLUSERS'>
BUT I still notice that the rest of the oab.xml has some strings with SITE2....
<Diff seq='419' ver='32' size='1132' uncompressedsize='1792397' SITE2='276c538984e00976514eb40f77acd34cbf2f4'>

</Diff>
<Diff seq='418' ver='32' size='1162' uncompressedsize='1793472'
SITE2='5a3d13acebf3e5e078031b118513c2e1e1ad'>
0fa30753-e512-4b2-adc9-904ba1bab7-binpatch-18.lzx
</Diff>
I am pretty confused about that issue. Mostly that I do not get why it does not show the GAB!!!
Should I change the string to default GAB?

What else can I do?
Looking forward to getting some help :-)
Many thanks in advance.

Is the issue only with the OAB?
Have you set as the default -

I do not think you can see that here. I fact it seems like it regards only the address lists.

Yes when outlook has the outlook Anywhere activated and the OAB is therefore used, it points to the SITE2 as default!
If I go to tools; send/receive; download address book and I then select manualy Global address book and it fixes the problem.
I have removed all address lists and re added them by ending with the address list ALLUSERS
and as I said before the oab.xml file has the first string updated but the rest still
recall the SITE2:

BUT I still notice that the rest of the oab.xml has some strings with SITE2....
