Delegate control over Mail Contacts
Subject line is objective.Looks like we'll need to install Exchange Management Tools (/r:MT) on the person's computer.OKThey will also need to be:1) Exchange recipient Administrator2) Account Operator in Active DirectoryNow, could delgation of control be granted even more narrowly (restrictively) by delegating control over the Active Directory OU that contains the mail contacts rather than making the person an Account Operator? For example, with the Group Policy Delegation of Control Wizard? Also, can you limit what the delegate sees in Exchange Management Tools? They only need to see Mail Contacts. Nothing else.Is there a way to create such a console???Thank you in advance!

Yes, you can delegate control to an OU. Simply right click the OU in question and walk through the delegation control wizard - assuming you have the permissions to do that.More info on customizing EMC:http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/10/20/429233.aspx

According to some sources (Transcender 70-236 practice exam) , you have to grant the delegate either Account Operator status or Delegate certain rights with the GPO Delegation of Control Wizard...besides making them a member of the Exchange Recipient Administrators group. However, it seems that membership in this group is enough (at least with Exchange 2007 SP1)Delegation does not seem to be necessary. I was able to make this work without delegation or Account Operator status.Exchange Recipient Admins have all the permissions they need to do this without further adjustements:http://umxo8g.blu.livefilestore.com/y1pa4N4T_ZY_SjOeAx8zxBpvBCnGMY9_1HDrpb9oxqOO503bFXFN0Gk81noeSZdali5GjKr2lcnogECBs5jdgf7fhJM2ReP_HoM/DelegateForMailContacts2.JPG
