Delete AD User will cause Exchange 2010 mailbox remove / disappear
I want to know more information about the practice of Windows 2008 R2 active directory integration with Exchange 2010 user mailbox. In Windows 2003 & Exchange 2003, if I delete a user from active directory, the corresponding mailbox in Exchange will become a disconnected item. But in Exchange 2010, I found that when I delete a user e.g. User12 in Active directory, the corresponding mailbox in Exchange 2010 is disappeared immediately. It cannot be shown out refresh in “Disconnected Mailbox”. Do Exchange 2010 change the design ?

Hi, After deleting the user it will keep mailbox till retention is over same as Exchange 2003. To see the disconnected mailbox you first need to connect to the server (in GUI) where users mailbox was present. OR if you know the database or server where user was then just run... Get-mailboxstatistics -database <db name> | where {$_.disconnectdate -ne $null} OR to run on all MBx servers. Get-mailboxserver | Get-mailboxstatistics | Where {$_.disconnectdate -ne $null} Hope this helps. Vishal Ramnani MCITP - Exchange 2007, MCSE Messaging, MCTS - Win 2008 Config

Also if a mailbox user has not logged on to his mailbox atleast once or at least one email is not sent to the mailbox then mailbox object wont appear in disconnected mailbox. Infact when u create a new mailbox in exchange 2007/2010 then the mailbox object wont be created in exchange mailbox store until u either logged on to that mailbox or send an email to that new mailbox. And meeting these all conditions if u still dont see your mailbox in disconnectd mailbox list then run this command Clean-MailboxDatabase "MailboxDatabase" and hopefully that mailbox will appear in disconnected mailbox list. Agreed! To resolve this particular problem Just Use the cmdlet Test-MailFlow for this new mailbox this will eliminate the use of logging on to this mailbox. :) Thanks Vishal Ramnani MCITP - Exchange 2007, MCSE Messaging, MCTS - Win 2008 Config

Hi, I also sometimes used the command Test-MapiConnectivity user@domain.com which logged on to user's mailbox. Infact whenever i create a new mailbox, i try to run Test-MapiConnectivity for it. Regards,Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com
