I have an exchange server 2007 with the latest updates. I want to know if I can set a policy in exchange to delete a user's email after 30 days and how to do it.

Take a look at applying messaging records management for the Inbox or any folder you would like to control: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123548%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx.

Hi Gerald, For this issue, you can use messaging records management to achieve the goal. Here are detail steps: 1. Create a Managed Folder and Managed Content Settings Exchange Management Console->Organization Configuration->Mailbox->Managed Default Folders->Choose the folder which you want to delete emails after 30 days->Right click the folder->New Managed content settings->enter the details and click on next(Message type you can choose All Mailbox Content, Length of retention period is 30 days, Retention period starts choose When item is moved to the folder, Action to take at the end of the retention period you can choose Delete and Allow Recovery )->next->Click next(If you don’t need automatically forward)->New 2. Create a Managed Folder Mailbox Policy Exchange Management Console->Organization Configuration->Mailbox->Managed Folder Mailbox Policies->Right Click->New Managed Folder Mailbox Policy->enter the required details and add the mailbox which you want to delete emails after 30 days->New->Finish 3. Apply a Managed Folder Mailbox Policy to user Mailbox Exchange Management Console->Recipient Configuration->Mailbox->choose the user’s mailbox which you want-> Properties->Mailbox Setting->Messaging Records Management->Check “Managed folder Mailbox policy” box->Browse->Choose the policy which you created 4. Schedule the Managed Folder Assistant Exchange Management Console->Server Configuration->Mailbox->Create Filter->Click on the Exchange Mailbox Server->Properties->Messaging Records Management->Customize the required time.
