Hello, I have an Exchange Server 2007 SP1 in Windows Server 2003 R2 x64. The problem es that the default Mailbox Database is corrupted and I want to recreate it. What I thought is to create a new one on another disk, move all mailbox to it, delete de original database, create a new one in the original partition and finally move all mailboxes to the new database in the original partition. But searching in internet, I saw that there is a problem in Exchange 2010 deleting the default Mailbox Database about that is not possible until the arbitration mailboxes are moved too. Am I going to have the same problem with Exchange 2007 SP1? Thanks in advance.

After you remove the first mailbox store, you should restart the System Attendant service so the System Attendant mailbox is recreated

Thanks Andy for your reply. So, I have to restart System Attendant twice. As you said, when I remove the first mailbox I should restart the System Attendant service so the System Attendant mailbox is recreated, but when I remove the temporary database and when I recreate the final database in the original partition, I should restart the service again in order to recreate system attendant mailbox on it.

Yes, pretty much. :) Or just move the "temporary" store back the original partition with the built in Exchange tools?

Hi Cristian, When the default mailbox database and/or storage group are removed and recreated, the homeMDB associated with the system mailbox and system attendant mailbox are no longer valid. When a storage group and database are recreated, the system mailbox should be recreated and the system attendant mailbox rehomed to this store. Just to report the results, I could delete the default mailbox database succesfully and when I restarted the Information Store service, the System Attendant was recreated in the first available database. Thanks
