This looks like the result of multiple temporary failures. I'd start with the SMTP protocol logs, and see if it tells you what the failure codes were.

Might be due to a wrong cache entry in the local Outlook .NK2 file.Delete the entry in question or the file. The failure code was 4.4.7 and microsoft gives the following explanation. Numeric Code: 4.4.7Possible Cause: The message in the queue has expired. The sending server tried to relay or deliver the message, but the action was not completed before the message expiration time occurred. This NDR may also indicate that a message header limit has been reached on a remote server or that some other protocol timeout occurred during communication with the remote server. Troubleshooting: This code typically indicates an issue on the receiving server. Verify the validity of the recipient address, and verify that the receiving server is configured to receive messages correctly. You may have to reduce the number of recipients in the header of the message for the host that you are receiving this NDR from. If you resend the message, it is placed in the queue again. If the receiving server is on line, the message is delivered. Thanks, Tri

That's the failure code in the NDR. There may be more information available in the detail of the smtp logs that was recorded when the actual delivery was attempted.

You are right Tri. This normally happens if the remote server fails to accept the message completely. This can be happen because of both parties. Either the sending server terminates the connection or the recieving server. You can check your SMTP logs for more information and detailed diagnostic information. If it turns out to be a failed connection attempt due to recieving server problems you can work with their administrator to fix this problem.Milind Naphade | MCTS:M (Exchange 2007 and 2010) | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Hi,From the NDR message, that seems the SMTP seesion has been terminated due to the expired which makes the email failed to be sent. Now please check your Protocol logging for the Receive Connector to confirm the SMTP session. Then post it on the forum.ThanksAllen

Hi i am sorry for the late reply actually i was on vacation so i was unable to get back to my threads and all stuff, i just enabled the protocol logging for the recieve connector i will post it here asap , Also i am having an EVENT 12014 error in my event viewer, does that stops this email from reaching the destination. I know that the reason for the event is due to expiration of the certificate for the FQDN in the evnt.i tried to renew it but i was unable to find out which certificate is related to this FQDN because there are 5 certificates available on my server and i dont see any of them is expired and also any of them is related to this FQDN how can i find if any of them is related to the FQDN in the EVENT, Help me out, Thanks, TRI

Hi,Please run get-exchangecertificate |fl command in EMS, check the CertificateDomains value, and the SMTP service should be enabled on the certificate.ThanksAllen

There are 5 certificates in there but none of those certificates subject names is showing the FQDN in the event , does dat mean there is no certificate related to that FQDN am i right. Thanks, TRI
