Delivery is delayed

Hi everyone I am using Exchange Server 2013 CU7, I am able to send and receive emails to other domains but on one domain i got complaint that they are not receive our emails  but we are able to receive their emails. Please do guide me how to troubleshoot in Exchange 2013 as i am  new this version of Exchange.

I tested by sending emails to yahoo, hotmail and gmail, i am facing issues with gmail , i cannot send emails to gmail but i can receive emails from gmail, please guide me to troubleshoot the issue

Hi Risingflight,

Appears to be existing issues with Gmail.

Try out the troubleshooting in this article, like telnet SMTP test to Gmail IP, is your IP static and what does blacklisting on mxtoolbox.com say for your IPs.

Also check how many emails are you sending to @gmail.com, if too many they might partially block your IPs for some time, thinking it as an attack.

Do you have Reverse DNS entries present for your domain, what about SFP records.

Not with the gmail i am also facing this issue with other domain(not all the domains as of now i am seeing this in two domains), Do i need to have SPF record at the ISP how to check whether ISP has SPF record for my domain. PTR record is pointing correctly

Not with the gmail i am also facing this issue with other domain(not all the domains as of now i am seeing this in two domains), Do i need to have SPF record at the ISP how to check whether ISP has SPF record for my domain. PTR record is pointing correctly

You need to check with your Public DNS provider for your domain, might be your ISP.

Check your domain or IPs for Blacklisting status on mxtoolbox.com

198.57.188.247 is not my ip, and my ip is not blacklisted i have checked it. and i dont have an SPF record at ISP, Do i need this record at the isp

Yes, you can add a SFP record, this would be a good practice to do.

Hi,

If you are using this server to directly send out email, then it needs to be able to resolve public domain names.

Hope you already have DNS server entries corresponding to Public DNS servers on the Exchange server's NIC.

Hence it should not be a problem.

Test it by running: And SMTP mail test commands. 

Telnet ecurityire.com 25

Basically If your internal DNS servers are capable of resolving addresses for names outside of your own DNS zones then you usually don't need this "Use the external DNS lookup settings on the Transport Server".

If you set that, it gets the config from your Exchange Servers, rather than the NIC.

If the Transport Config here:

Servers->Servers Tab->Select Source server-> Edit->DNS Lookups

External DNS lookups:
Some Send connectors use external DNS settings to resolve MX resource records. Specify use of the DNS server configured on the network adapter or manually configure a DNS server IP address.

For the @ecurityire.com domain, when I test it doesn't have a MX record available, nor 173.0.143.127 is open on port 25 hence error is expected.

Check in mxtoolbox.com , it appears to be a webserver 80,443,21FTP open

Hi,

Hope the IP you gave is an example ofcourse. Basically you need only the records on the Public side.

Public IP 143.256.3.122 -> mydomain.com (Reverse DNS checks)

This allows other servers to identify you and not consider your servers as a possible spammer.

Now your MX records looks odd. Does your email Ids in your domain look like these Tom@mail.mydomain.com or Tom@mydomain.com the PTR records should be pertaining to each @domainname.com you use to sendout emails.  

To start troubheshooting on the issue we need to start from the NDR message, what is it this time.

Hi i have created spf record at isp

After creating spf record i have tested sending emails to gmail and i was receiving  emails but after few hours, unable to send emails to gmail.com what could be the issue.

A PTR record is useful and can alleviate some issues.  I'd start with your ISP first, they're usually the ones that need to create them.  In rare cases, some ISPs can't create PTR records and then you'll need to find a third party to handle it for you.  Are you still having issues sending to Google and other domains?

Yes, have the record created.  Your public IP for email should be resolved to mail.test.com when complete.  Again, check with your ISP first; hopefully they'll be able to create it for you.

Hi Risingflight,

At lets you would have some DNS server (ISP may be )who is capable of getting the info for you.

Basically changing that option would not make much difference in most of the cases.

Please run the telnet test I posted earlier. Basically all seems okay. What I see is other domain is having issues.
