Deny replies to resource mailboxes
Is there a way to setmeeting rooms up, so that if someone replies to the automatic request mailings, the messages are undeliverable? OR better yet, if someone replies to the message, it goes to a different reply to address (like the room delegates e-mail)?Should mention, I guess, that this is on Exchange 2007Thanks

You can use transport rules to redirect the messages which are going to meeting room with below Condition and Action. Condition :Sent to people Action:Redirect the message to addresses ORSend bounce message to sender with enhanced status code Understanding How Transport Rules Are Applied in an Exchange 2007 Organization http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124703.aspx Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Do you want to block the users who attempt to reply the auto response of meeting request from resource mailbox? Please correct me if I have misunderstood the question Amits suggestion will redirect all the messages that send to the resource mailbox Explanation: Except for meeting request, other types of the messages will all go to the Deleted Items folder on the resource mailboxes So, heres a workaround: Let users reply to resource mailboxes since the regular messages will all go to the Deleted Items folder, and add a mailbox policy on the resource mailbox, by using MRM to delete/move the Items in the Deleted Items folder in order to speed up the deletion process

Yes, James you are correct. Only the replies to the auto responce.I've already set a different MRM policy to clean up the managed folders different than the one I have for end users. My problem is that, too many people reply to the current resource mailboxes (I'm replacing those - hold overs from Exchange 5.5 era).In the auto responce I do have a message attached to the bottom stating that it is an autogenerated mail and to send all replies to <room delegate> and that the mail gets deleted immediately; however, you know how end users can be once they have already created those old bad habits (hey, I'm that way too...havin' a heck of a time quitting smoking).

Quote: too many people reply to the current resource mailboxes Werent those current resource mailboxes created in the exchange 2007? Or they just the mailboxes which migrated from previous version of exchange? Quote: In the auto response I do have a message attached to the bottom stating that it is an auto generated mail Did you add the BIG red words like This is an auto generated response, please DO NOT reply it in any forms? I know its just an education way, but it may take some effect

The ones that the people currently reply to are the 'migrated from previous' calendars.I still have the 'new' resources hidden.. I do currently haveThis is a system generated message - Do Not Reply, all E-mails are automatically deleted. Send all replies to <our delegate>I prefer just leaving it like that, I just know how these ppl all are. Thanks for the help

After spent more time to test, I found a workaround that may suit for you. You may still remember the pop-up confirmation when users attempting to book a meeting in the resource mailboxes (The resources for the meeting were successfully booked). This function is working on the Room Mailbox on the exchange 2007 as well So, we just need to check the checkboxes in the Resource Scheduling via outlook. Then, when users send the meeting requests to Room Mailboxes, the notification window above will jump out instead of auto response Notes: Such workaround will need to grant more permission to users on the Room Mailboxes, not just Free/Busy info as regular exchange 2007 Room Mailboxes Notes: For how to logon the a Room Mailbox via outlook, please refer my post in this thread Notes: Please test this workaround in a lab environment

Hows this workaround? Is it working for you? Or you will keep the education way?
