Deploy Second Exchange server
Hi
I have a bit of a problem here guys, We have a hub transport server that is configured as the DC with AD here in South Africa. Recently I was requested to setup a exchange server in the UK since the Current bandwidth is extremely poor
in SA. We have Client employees working from the UK and would want to have the exchange setup in the UK so that Our clients in the UK can connect to the UK server instead of the ZA server.
What is the best solution here? Can anyone assist me with this?
Best regards

I don't see any issue installing the server in another site.
What exactly you are looking for?
The process of installation or something else?
One thing is for sure that you don't have to run Setup.com /PS as schema is already upgraded.Gulab | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2007 | MCC 2011 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah

here i agree with Gulab, but i would like to know one more thing that in SA what all roles are installed and what is the size of the mailboxes of UK users, because while performing move mailbox you need to be careful. (as connectivity between UK and SA
is not so good as per your previous post)

Hi Prem
Thanks for the help. At the moment its just going to be one mailbox that will be moved from the SA server to the UK, the mailbox size will be about 1gig. What I need to know is how to start, I have the following Exchange roles installed on the ZA server:
Mailbox
Client Access
Hub Transport
On the server roles the following is installed:
Active Directory Domain Services
DNS Server
File Services
Web Server IIS
I need to know how to setup a new site and how to move the mailbox over as well as how the new DNS needs to be configured.
Any Help :D
Thanks.

hello,
AS the mailbox size is near to 1 GB, i will recommand you to take that user mailbox backup in PST, remove all the emails from mailbox so size will reduce to some MB's and then move mailbox. it will be fast and safe.
as per server roles we need one Domain controller with Global Catalog role in UK for services redundancy.Rregard, Prem Desai

Hi,
From your description, you want to deploy another Exchange Server in a new site. So you need to install Hub Transport, CAS and Mailbox roles, and there must be Global Catalog.
You can achieve it through the following steps:
1. Install a new Windows 2003 or above server and add it to the present domain.
2. Install a new Exchange server on windows server and you can install it to UK child domain if there is a UK child domain.
3. I recommend that you install a DC and GC on another windows server.
Besides, you should move mailboxes relating with UK to new Exchange server. And about how to move mailboxes, please refer to the following link:
