Design Issue
Hi all, hope you're all well and was wondering if you could help.My question/scenario is the following:- I have been given the task to design and implement Exchange 2007 with a very small budget. I work within a school and we have two domains (admin and curriculum). Exchange uses the Active Directory Schema but because I have two Active Directory Structures, how could I implement a solution with one Exchange Server 2007?The only options I feel I have are; Get two Exchange Servers to run on the seperate domains (Expensive) or run Virtual Machine on the server but have two instances of Exchange 2007.If anyone could suggest any other options I'd be very grateful and indebted for your invaluable advice.Regards,

Could you please clarify something? You say you have two domains, but are they in different AD forests, or the same one?

Hi, sorry for missing this information out. Thank you for your reply. Thetwo domains are in different forests. Would this be a problem because they don't share the same schema or are there ways around it?

Exchange 2007 allows you create "Linked Mailboxes" for accounts that are in a trusted forest. I suggest reading up a bit on the subject and then post back with any further questions. A good place to start may be here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201680(EXCHG.80).aspx Find the sections that discuss the linked mailboxes and follow the other referenced links. That should provide a good starting point for you.

Hi, If there's no relationship between two forests, then you have to install Exchange in each forest and then connect the forests so that users can see address and availability data across the forests. Detail information you can refer to the below article: How to Deploy Exchange 2007 in a Cross-Forest Topology http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998597(EXCHG.80).aspx Hope it helps. Xiu
