Designing Exchange 2010 over very slov link
Hi, Have a question regarding designing exchange 2010. Scenario…. Windows 2008 servers and exchange 2010 and outlook clients. Have a main office with many exchange servers and would like to run exchange server Also on sites with very slow link speed. 256kb “satellite links” Is there a way to setup exchange server between to sites with very slow links “256kb”?

I think this would depend on your topology and how much traffic you expect to push down the links. I could really do with a little more infomation.

Hi there, it all depends on how you are going to design your Exchange 2010 environment... As ams11 stated, the amount of traffic between both sites will be a key factor in determining what your design approach would be. a) With a 256kb-link a DAG will be no option Some questions you should ask yourself: 1) Is running Outlook in these remote sites a requirement? If not, is OWA an option (depens on # users). 2) How many users are there in the remote site? Hi, The design depends on many factors, such as your topology, clients’ types, number and so on. And here is an article about network traffic in Exchange 2010 you can refer to: Client Network Requirements in Exchange 2010 Hope this helps. ThanksSophia Xu

Hi, There are about 15 users on the remote site one DC and one Exchange server. I know if running a standard Exchange server setup connected to the AD will kill the line. The reason for the questian was that I was toald that in Exchange 2003 one could setup the W2K3 server BDC and Exchange 2K3 server with site connectors with bridgeheads servers over lines with very slow performens. I dont know if that still are an option in W2K8 and Exchange 2010 or if it´s being removed or replaced with someting else? rgs Legatus944
