Different GALs - Entries (Exchange 2003)
Hi there,
i have a problem with different entries in the Address List.
My system:
corp.local = 2 Exchange-Server
us.corp.local = 1 Exchange Server (SubDomain)
po.corp.local) = 1 Exchange Server (SubDomain)
AD replication / DNS / GC are all fine.
Because of "political" problems the domain "us.corp.local" are offline for a long time. So we must (re-)start the AD synchronization by hand.
Now I have the following situation:
When I go to ESM -> Recipients -> All Global Address lists -> DefaultList and preview the filter results, in the subdomain us.corp.local exists one user who was renamed in the ActiveDirectoy. If I make this on corp.local, the user doesn't exists.
When a user from us.corp.local send an email to the renamed user, the user get the massage but the sender get an NDR with the old username back. If a user from corp.local send an email, everything worked fine.
How can I force a rebuild of the GAL in us.corp.local. Where does the data came from, when i click the preview button in ESM?
I hope, someone can help me.
Thanks.
Michael

Hi Michael,
I would like to explain when you click Preview button, the data is gathered based on the LDAP filter of the Address List from the GC which the Exchange server currently connects.
Therefore, I suggest you check whether the problem user exists in the GC in the corp.local domain.
You can use LDP tool to help query GC:
1. Run LDP
2. Click Connection->Connect, connects to the GC server in the corp.local domain and use Port 3268
3. Connection->Bind, please provide the available user account to query GC
4. View->Tree, select DC= corp,DC= local
5. Expand the tree and expand DC=us,DC=corp,DC=local and check whether you are able to locate the user
Note: I assume the user is created in domain us.corp.local.
