Disable Exchange 2007 on SBS2008 Server?
We have just moved from a standard 2003 server to a new SBS2008 server with the thought of eventually hosting our own e-mail. I was wondering if there is a way to disable the Exchange server on the server until we are ready to host our own e-mail? I know absolutely nothing about exchange server. I tried to uninstall it through Programs and features, but the test says I can't until i move the database file (no idea what it is talking about).thanks,Kevin

Hello Kevin,As you mentioned disable the exchange server unless you're ready to host your email?... well, simple just disable all the service wich starts with "Microsoft Exchange *" or you can use the below article for removing the exchange server from organization. How to remove Exchange 2007 from a computerhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/927464Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Yes, Aruns suggestion is good one. Its not recommended to remove the exchange, you shall just leaveexchangeout there andnot use it
Notes: This forum is for pure exchange product related issues. For questions about SBS please use the SBS 2008 which would be the most relevant forum for such question

Arun,Thanks for the suggestions. Wasn't sure if disabling it would cause issues or not since it is integrated into AD. I will post in SBS forum.Kevin

You're welcome Kevin, Disabling will not cause any issue - but yes it is better to discuss the same on SBS forum.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3
